The master's (II cycle) study of social pedagogy is a continuation of the development of competences for creating a system of individually or group-oriented expert procedures, measures and tools, competences for an interdisciplinary, differentiated approach towards individuals, groups, institutions and the community, based on socio-pedagogical scientific and professional principles and knowledge , which includes:

(a) socio-pedagogical diagnostics - i.e. determination of socio-pedagogical properties and potential of individuals and psychosocial characteristics of groups and organizations for the purpose of explaining and predicting their behavior, finding causes of ineffectiveness or disorders and planning and implementing socio-pedagogical treatments,

(b) socio-pedagogical treatments and counseling work - i.e. procedures intended to protect, maintain and improve the overall functioning of individuals and groups, and to improve the quality of life and work, optimal utilization of individual potentials and improvement of group and organizational effectiveness,

(c) educational activities - which include the training of individuals and groups in mastering general and specific socio-pedagogical knowledge and skills with the aim of acquiring socio-pedagogical education, improving individual effectiveness and effectiveness in working with people,

(d) socio-pedagogical expert research - socio-pedagogical and psychosocial processes and the condition of individuals and groups with the aim of deepening knowledge about the legality of socio-pedagogical activities and the assessment of social needs and the consequences of economic or social initiatives,

(e) socio-pedagogical evaluation – all socio-pedagogical and other procedures and treatments concerning an individual, group or organization and which may have socio-pedagogical consequences.

The process of developing the master's program (II cycle) and the design of the program content are based on international insights about the nature of social pedagogy studies in Croatia, which is closest to us, and in Germany, where the socio-pedagogical scientific-theoretical concept and practice are extremely developed, and on significant experiences gained during consultations. a wide circle of experts: university professors, pedagogues in schools, social workers, psychologists engaged in resocialization support centers. During these consultations, the conviction was reaffirmed that each of the comparative studies of social pedagogy in the world develops its double relevance:

  1. a) the possibility of joining the generally accepted study of social pedagogy in the modern world, whose study program is situated in the area of quality in higher education based on the criteria of compliance with 'good practice', social relevance,
  2. b) differentia specifica of each individual study program, appropriate to cultural peculiarities and the fact that there is no possibility of replicating the model from one environment to another.

At the master's degree (II cycle) of a one-year (two-semester) study, students acquire 60 ECTS credits.

Title and duration of studies

Study Name: II cycle (master's) studies at the Department of Social Pedagogy.

Duration of studies: the study lasts one academic year, i.e. two (II) semesters, during which students earn 60 ECTS points.

Professional or academic title or degree that you acquire upon completion of your studies

Upon completion of the Master's (II cycle) studies at the Department of Social Pedagogy of the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy of the University of Zenica, the student acquires the professional title: master of social pedagogy.

Competencies are defined in the diploma supplement in relation to the module on which the student obtained his master's degree.

Enrollment conditions

Candidates who have completed the first cycle (undergraduate) of studies at the Department of Social Pedagogy, similar studies at other faculties in BiH and abroad, and graduates of undergraduate studies from other humanities and social sciences. Students who have completed another study program, except social pedagogy, social work, pedagogy, psychology, are required to pass the exam in Social pedagogy with the aim of more functional monitoring of the study program of the second cycle of social pedagogy.

In scientific and research work, the orientation of the II cycle (master's) study is contemporary trends in scientific and professional research in the field of social pedagogy.

Knowledge of one world language is mandatory for all candidates.

The Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton will cover the costs of regular studies in the academic year 2009/10. year only for students who achieved an average grade of 8 (eight) and above in the first cycle of studies, in accordance with the Conclusion of the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton no. 02-38-1231/09 from 14.01.2009. years.

Foreign citizens apply for the competition under the conditions stipulated in the Rules of the University of Zenica and the Rules of the Faculty.

In case of application of a larger number of candidates than foreseen by the competition, priority is given to candidates with better references from the previous study cycle. Candidates are selected by the Study Council.

The teaching-scientific council of the Faculty publishes the competition on the notice board and the website of the Faculty, as well as in a daily newspaper. The Graduate Studies Council (hereinafter referred to as the Council) appoints a three-member competition committee that proposes candidates for admission to the Master's program in Social Pedagogy.

Candidates can submit a written objection to the published ranking list to the Teaching and Research Council of the Faculty within three days of the publication of the ranking list. The academic and teaching council of the Faculty decides on possible objections within three days and informs the candidates accordingly.

The teaching-scientific council of the Faculty determines the final ranking list, which is published on the notice boards of the faculty the day after the day of adoption with an indication of the candidates who have been accepted. The decision of the Scientific and Teaching Council of the Faculty is final.

Master's degree students from other faculties who wish to transfer to the Master's degree in Social Pedagogy at the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy of the University of Zenica can only do so with the special approval of the Council of Studies and with the specific conditions prescribed by it, which are not provided for in the general acts on the Master's degree.

Conditions for completion of studies

The master's study (II cycle) was completed by candidates who fulfilled all the obligations stipulated in the study program: collected the stipulated number of ECTS credits, passed all exams and completed other tasks provided for individual modules during the graduate study, and prepared and successfully defended a master's thesis.

The master's thesis will be done by students in accordance with the Procedure for the preparation of master's theses at the University of Zenica.

Classes for all students are held on weekends according to a special schedule.

The goal of the Master's (II cycle) studies at the Department of Social Pedagogy is to expand, supplement and additionally modernize and systematize the knowledge acquired in the I cycle (undergraduate) studies of social pedagogy, and to ensure vertical academic mobility for students who have completed the I cycle (undergraduate) studies at the Department for social pedagogy.

The tasks of the study are to develop competencies in the area of:

  • sociopedagogical practices,
  • sociopedagogical diagnostics,
  • socio-pedagogical treatment and counseling work,
  • sociopedagogical resocialization,
  • sociopedagogical professional research and
  • sociopedagogical evaluation.

Competences that students acquire during their studies

Generic (general) competencies

During the second cycle of studies, students develop competencies in the area of:

  • socio-pedagogical prevention,
  • sociopedagogical diagnostics,
  • socio-pedagogical treatment and counseling work,
  • sociopedagogical resocialization,
  • sociopedagogical professional research and
  • sociopedagogical evaluation.

Specific competencies

During the second cycle of studies, students develop the following specific competencies:

  • articulation and analysis of different theoretical approaches in social pedagogy
  • description and analysis of elements of professional competence
  • articulation and understanding of ethical issues within socio-pedagogical activity
  • understanding the standards of professional behavior of social pedagogues
  • creation of a plan for the development of one's own professional identity
  • understanding, and then programming and implementation/management of professional preventive action
  • monitor, identify and present current evidence on the incidence and prevalence of health, mental health or behavioral outcomes
  • the art of communication, cooperation and animation in the process of designing and implementing preventive programs
  • knowledge of evaluating a socio-pedagogical prevention project
  • understanding the etiology of human needs in the community, application of different models and methodological principles of social work in the community. They will master the practical skills needed to identify, plan and develop social services in the community
  • articulate selected programs in the context of resocialization;
  • evaluate the possibilities of methodological approaches in the process of resocialization of certain target groups
