MASTER'S STUDY OF PRESCHOOL EDUCATION AND EDUCATION
The Department of Preschool Education at the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy of the University of Zenica was established in the academic year 2008/2009, in parallel with the intensive development of preschool education in Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. the adoption of the new Law on Preschool Education, according to which preschool education is mandatory for one year. before starting school.
In ac. 2016/17. In 2008, the Department of Preschool Education organized and conducted undergraduate and master's studies.
The second cycle of study, that is, the master's study at the Department of Preschool Education, represents the natural course of education for graduates of the first cycle of preschool education. Since the first cycle of studies was reformed from the 3+2+3 model to the 4+1+3 study concept, and the earlier first cycle was changed from three years (six semesters) to four years, the consequence was that the two-year duration of the second study cycle changed to a one-year duration. The first generation of the second cycle according to this model was enrolled in the academic year 2020/21.
The goal of the master's (II cycle) studies at the Department of Preschool Education is to upgrade the knowledge acquired during the first cycle of preschool education and to ensure vertical mobility for students who have completed the first cycle of studies at the Department of Preschool Education, as well as students of other study groups who have the desire to improve in the field of early education.
The tasks of the studies are to provide stimulating and rich environments for early and preschool upbringing and education in which:
- apply developmentally and functionally appropriate individual and joint activities, aligned with the specific needs, interests and abilities of children (regardless of whether they are children with developmental difficulties, gifted children or children with average development);
- create, implement and evaluate specialized artistic, language, kinesiology and other programs for children of early and preschool age, adapted to different institutional contexts of early and preschool upbringing and education, in accordance with the specific needs of families and children;
- use appropriate modern technologies, media and other didactic means (including technology, media and means adapted to the needs of children with developmental difficulties);
- practices professional ethical action based on contemporary pedagogical concepts that describe the educator as a reflective practitioner;
- implement and evaluate contemporary concepts of theories, models and philosophies of early and preschool education in different institutional contexts;
- achieves complex communication and cooperation of all participants in early and preschool education;
- develop interdisciplinary and intradisciplinary teams focused on working together to improve early and preschool education;
- create and lead scientific and professional evaluation projects of early and preschool education;
- promotes the practice of active participation of educators in the creation of policy in the field of early and preschool upbringing and education with an understanding of the meaning of its development potential.
The master's degree at the Department of Preschool Education lasts one academic year, i.e. the second semester, during which students earn 60 ECTS points. The basic study lasts four academic years, the student achieves 240 ECTS points, in the second cycle he achieves another 60 points, which fulfills the 300 ECTS points necessary for obtaining the right to the title of master of profession.
- After completing the second cycle of studies, the student obtains a diploma stating that he has fulfilled all the prescribed conditions for obtaining an academic title and professional title:

Teaching (lectures and exercises) at the master's degree program at the Department of Preschool Education is conducted by professional teachers and associates with appropriate qualifications for teaching and associate positions.
Classes for all students are held on weekends according to a special schedule.

The master's degree at the Department of Preschool Education lasts one academic year, i.e. the second semester, during which students earn 60 ECTS points.
After completing the second cycle of studies, the student obtains a diploma stating that he has fulfilled all the prescribed conditions for obtaining an academic title and professional title: master of preschool education / Eng. Master of Preschool Education.
During the second cycle of studies, students develop the following general competencies:
- knowledge and application of appropriate methods of research and development of early childhood education practices;
- the ability to take responsibility for personal professional development and learning through evaluation and reflection of one's own work (experiential learning, interviews, supervision);
- leadership and organizational skills;
- establishment of cooperative relations with users of kindergarten services and other communication groups;
- ability to research and transfer knowledge into practice;
- development of new knowledge and strengthening of understanding in the field of early childhood education;
- acting in accordance with ethical norms and the professional code;
- the ability to participate in an interdisciplinary team and communicate with all subjects involved in the educational process (with children, adolescents, parents and practitioners);
- reflecting and evaluating the existing educational practice, and identifying unused opportunities for increasing its quality;
- development of high cognitive abilities associated with the creation of new knowledge.
During the second cycle of studies, students develop the following specific competencies:
- the ability to collaboratively solve educational problems in different social and educational contexts;
- the ability to adapt practice to the specifics of the early educational context;
- development of knowledge and understanding in the field of early education;
- the ability to reflect and articulate values and attitudes that correspond to a certain practice;
- the ability to use research in the field of early childhood education to create an alternative, different practice;
- the possibility of conducting practice in the direction of intercultural dialogue;
- ability to integrate different curricular areas;
- deep understanding of the theory of development, management and assessment of work in public education - in kindergarten;
- the ability to organize and manage public institutions - kindergartens.
