HISTORY OF THE LIBRARY

The library of the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy was established immediately after the establishment of the Faculty. The war and post-war situation slowed down the acquisition of library material, but with the persistent efforts of the then dean, doc.dr. Nusret Isanović and those who worked in the library, the building of the fund began. Today, the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy in Zenica has one of the best equipped libraries at the University. Literature from various scientific fields can be found in the library. As an integral part of the scientific-teaching infrastructure, the library aims to contribute to the highest quality education of the Faculty's students.

MISSION

The primary task is the collection, professional processing and provision of library material and information necessary for the development and improvement of the teaching-scientific process and scientific-research work at the Faculty.

BOOK FUND

According to the inventory book, the library has about 5,000 book units. The publications are in Bosnian, English, Arabic, Turkish and German. Users are allowed access to the following content:

• textbooks
• professional literature
• magazines
• archival collection with several hundred diploma theses

At the beginning of 2008. The University of Zenica signed a contract with COBISS, and thus this library, as the OJ of the University, became an equal member of the system in which there are about 400 libraries from the region. COBISS represents an organizational model of linking libraries into a library-information system with mutual cataloging, mutual bibliographic-catalogue database COBIB and local databases of participating libraries, library database COLIB, normative database CONOR, and also with numerous other functions of the so-called virtual libraries. By signing this contract, in the future, even better work of the libraries of the University of Zenica, and thus the libraries of the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy, should be ensured.

SPACE IN THE LIBRARY

Currently, the library is located in a cramped space, and expansion is expected by moving to a new building. Until then, the following are available:

• desk for information and work with users
• reading room
• exhibition space
