DEPARTMENT OF ORIENTAL LANGUAGES AND LITERATURE

The Department of Oriental Languages and Literature belongs to the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy. It was founded in 2006 by the decision of the Senate of the University of Zenica.

The teaching-scientific and scientific-research area of the Department of Oriental Languages and Literature is the organization and realization of classes within the first and second cycle of studies, the development of scientific-research personnel and research and development in the field of Oriental philology: Arabic, Persian and Turkish languages and literature, civilization, history and culture of the people of these speaking areas, as well as the area of linguistic and cultural-historical heritage in BiH in these languages.

The Department of Oriental Languages and Literature organizes classes (lectures and exercises) at the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, the Department of Islamic Religious Studies, the Department of Social Pedagogy and Preschool Education of the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy of the University of Zenica.

Academic year 2013/2014. In 2008, the Department realized the project of starting a study Department for Arabic Language and Literature at the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy of the University of Zenica, and the first generation of students was enrolled.

The Department of Oriental Languages and Literature is the promoter of the Project of Early Learning of the Arabic Language in Elementary Schools of the ZE-DO Canton and in April 2013, in cooperation with the Pedagogical Institute and the Ministry of Education of the Canton, organized an educational seminar for principals of elementary schools in this Canton entitled "Arabic language - why not? ".

The department initiated the establishment of very close cooperation between the Department of Arabic Language and Literature with the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Saudi King Fahd Cultural Center from Sarajevo. With the support of the King Fahd Cultural Center, 2013/2014. In 2010, the Department initiated the formation of the first Arabic language department at the "Ćamil Sijarić" Elementary School in Nemila. The department is the organizer of guest lectures by professors of the Arabic language from Tunisia and Egypt at the Department of Arabic Language and Literature.

External collaborators at the Department are: prof. dr. Ćazim Hadžimejlić, Assoc. Ph.D. Enver Ujkanovic, prof. Ph.D. Amrudin Hajrić, asst. Azra Kapetanović and asst. Muaz Smailović.
