Teaching (lectures and exercises) at the undergraduate study at the Department of Preschool Education is conducted by professional teachers and associates with appropriate qualifications for teaching and associate positions.

Classes are held for full-time and part-time students. Classes for part-time students are organized and held on weekends according to a special schedule.

The Department of Preschool Education at the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy at the University of Zenica was established in the academic year 2008/2009, in parallel with the intensive development of preschool education in Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. with the adoption of the new Law on Preschool Education, according to which preschool education is mandatory for a year days before starting school.

In ac. 2017/18. In 2008, the Department of Preschool Education organized and conducted undergraduate and master's studies.

From the foundation up to ac. 2015/16. In 2008, the undergraduate studies (1st cycle) at the Department of Preschool Education lasted three academic years, i.e. six semesters, and were valued at 180 ECTS points.

From ac. 2016/17. undergraduate study (I cycle) at the Department of Preschool Education lasts four academic years, i.e. eight semesters. The study is evaluated with 240 ECTS points.

After completing the studies, the student obtains a diploma in which it will be stated that he has fulfilled all the prescribed conditions for obtaining an academic title and a professional graduate professor of preschool upbringing and education / Eng. Bachelor of Pre-school Education.

Graduates of the undergraduate study of preschool upbringing and education as educators of early and preschool children are qualified for employment as educators in nurseries, kindergartens, playrooms, children's centers, for work in specialized programs for children of early and preschool age conducted in libraries, family centers, homes for neglected children and all other institutions (public and private) that carry out various forms of upbringing and education of children of preschool and early school age (primary schools, playrooms in libraries, health, social, cultural and sports institutions and associations).

Following the needs resulting from the newly emerging situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the context of the introduction of compulsory preschool education, the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy in Zenica of the University of Zenica initiated a programmed, expertly supervised process of regular reforming of preschool education studies.

The Scientific and Teaching Council of the Faculty, in accordance with Article 131 of the Law on Higher Education of Ze-Do Canton (Official Gazette of Ze-Do Canton 6/09) and Article 183 of the Statute of the University of Zenica, initiated the amendment of the Curriculum for the 1st cycle of the Department for Preschool Education, which applies from the academic year 2016/17. year and the transformation of studies from the 3+2+3 model to the 4+1+3 study concept. Also, students who have completed the three-year first cycle of studies at the Department of Preschool Education will be able to take the exams from the fourth year of study from the academic year 2016/17.

The main characteristic of the innovative Curriculum is that the fourth year of study is being introduced and that the Department of Preschool Education is moving to the 4+1+3 study concept. One of the reasons for the reform of the study program is to strengthen the competitiveness of graduates of this study program on the labor market and comparability with graduates of the same study program in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also, the study at the Department of Preschool Education remained isolated as the only study program at the University of Zenica that is conducted according to the 3+2+3 study concept.

The reformed undergraduate study at the Department of Preschool Education includes:

• obtaining a diploma within the framework of undergraduate studies according to the ECTS system;
• renewed programs of pedagogic, psychological, didactic, methodical education, theological, structurally corresponding studies at teachers' faculties in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which have the same direction;
• new programs through the subject Education of children with special needs, which trains preschool teachers for educational work in the classroom in accordance with the principles of integration, inclusion of children with special developmental needs;
• renewed training programs for researching phenomena in upbringing and education (theoretical-practical methodological training);
• new programs for developing a 'learning culture' (with the use of new working methods);
• new programs for developing communication skills, according to the needs of a reformed school that seeks the art of building a teamwork paradigm;
• a new program of interdisciplinary penetration of reference sciences for education in faith (theology, humanities...), which will have its materialization through the inventiveness and implementation of teaching subjects and strong student engagement during studies.
