On December 18, 2024, the Islamic Pedagogical Faculty in Zenica, Department of Arabic Language and Literature, in cooperation with Elçi Ibrahim-paša Madrasa and Medresa “Osman ef. Redžović”, organized a rich and inspiring program on the occasion of the International Day of the Arabic Language. This event was an opportunity to emphasize the importance of the Arabic language as one of the six official languages of the United Nations and a language with exceptional historical, cultural and spiritual value.
The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, and continued with an address by the Head of the Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mithat Juga, who emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting the Arabic language, both in the academic environment and in the wider community.
In the artistic part of the program, students of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, students of the Elči Ibrahim-paša Madrasa and the “Osman ef. Redžović” Madrasa presented themselves with recitations and other creative acts.
An exhibition space was also prepared for visitors, where calligraphic works were exhibited, as well as books and publications that testify to the richness of Arab culture, as well as stands where they tried their hand at interactive games in the fields of linguistics, literature, translation and calligraphy. This event was an opportunity to highlight the richness of the Arabic language and culture, and emphasize its role as a bridge between tradition and the modern era. The program brought together lovers of the Arabic language of all generations, creating a space for the spread of knowledge and pleasant socializing, with the message that nurturing this language means preserving cultural heritage and global dialogue.
