On Monday, 18.12. In 2023, the "International Day of the Arabic Language" was celebrated at the Islamic Pedagogical Faculty in Zenica.
On this day, in December 1970, the Resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) was passed, by which, from then until today, December 18 is considered World Arabic Language Day.
Arabic is the sixth official language of the United Nations. The reason for the declaration of the Arabic language as a world language is that this language has preserved and expanded human civilization and world culture.
The theme of this year's International Arabic Language Day was "Arabic language - the language of poetry and art".
At the beginning of the event, student Omer Sinanović studied the Qur'anic verses from Surah Yusuf:
1. Elif-lam-ra. These are the verses of the Book of Clearness!
2. We publish it as a Qur'an in Arabic, so that you may understand.
3. By revealing this Qur'an to you, We are telling you about the most beautiful events, even though before it you really knew nothing.
Emphasizing with these verses that the Arabic language is the most eloquent, broadest and clearest language... That is why the most honorable Book was published in the most honorable language, to the most honorable Prophet, through the most honorable angel, in the most honorable part of the world. Its announcement began in the most honorable month of the year - the month of Ramadan and was completed in every respect.
At the beginning of the program, on behalf of the dean, Prof. dr. Muharem Adilović, addressed by Prof. Dr. Izet Pehlić and Prof. Dr. Mithat Jugo, Head of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, who in his inspired speech emphasized the importance and significance of the Arabic language, and the importance of its study. As part of the program, the attendees had the opportunity to enjoy the recitation of Arabic poetry and prose by the students of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, and the performance of ilahi in Arabic by the choir of the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy in Zenica. The program was enhanced by the presence of guests from Qatar and Egypt, who were delighted with both the program and the faculty itself. It is important to note that the Department of Arabic Language and Literature was founded at the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy in Zenica ten years ago and that its program follows contemporary trends in foreign language learning. There are currently two Egyptian students at the Department, who also took part in the program.
