On 26.10.2023. candidate Muaz Smajlović defended his master's thesis entitled "Qur'anic intertextuality in the translations of Nedžib Mahfuz's novel" before the Commission in the following composition:
– Dr. sc. Enver Ujkanović, docent for the scientific field Translation into Arabic, Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy, University of Zenica, president of the Commission;
– Dr. sc. Semir Rebronja, associate professor for the scientific field Literature of Oriental Languages - Arabic, Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy, University of Zenica, mentor and member of the Commission;
– Dr. sc. Mithat Jugo, assistant professor for the scientific field Linguistics of Oriental Languages/Arabic Language, Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy, University of Zenica, commentator and member of the Commission;
- asst. Berina Mehić, Secretary of the Commission.
The master's thesis on the topic "Qur'anic intertextuality in the translations of Nejib Mahfuz's novel" has scientific and practical significance and value. The work is a significant contribution to the research of difficulties in translating from Arabic into the Bosnian language and to the effort to offer a scientific framework for solving them. Candidate Muaz Smajlović handled this topic with responsibility and scientific-research maturity and thus obtained the title of master of Arabic language and literature.
