OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE HIGH DELEGATION OF SAUDI ARABIA TO THE ISLAMIC FACULTY OF PEDAGOGICS AND THE DEPARTMENT OF ARABIC LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE

On 21.11. In 2019, the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy and the Department of Arabic Language and Literature hosted a high-level delegation from Saudi Arabia led by the Director of the Cultural Center Kralj Fahd from Sarajevo, dr. Muhammed Alu al-Sheikh with his closest associates.

The members of this delegation were Prof. dr. Mahmud Ismail Salih, director of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz National Center for the Arabic Language from Riyadh and others. Bader bin Nasir al-Jabar, Dean of Graduate Studies at al-Imam Muhammad bin Su'ud University.

Upon arrival at the faculty and the abundant working premises, an official meeting of the delegation was held with the management of the faculty and members of the Department of Oriental Languages and Literature. On this occasion, the dean of the faculty, Prof. dr. Muharem Adilović introduced the esteemed guests to the work of the faculty and all study departments, after which Prof. Dr. Mejra Softić, head of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, spoke about this department, the results achieved in its work, as well as all the difficulties and needs that professors and students from this department face in studying Arabic. Concrete models for the establishment of cooperation between the National Center and the Department were agreed upon, with the mediation of the Kralj Fahd Cultural Center from Sarajevo.

After the working meeting, Prof. dr. Mahmud Ismail Salih gave a lecture for students and professors on the subject of Contemporary Methods in Language Teaching, and then the book Arabic Language in Bosnia and Herzegovina, authored by Arabist orientalists and Arabic language teachers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, was presented. The book was printed in Riyadh, under the auspices of the National Center for the Arabic Language.

Members of the delegation presented the Department of Arabic Language and Literature with valuable and contemporary literature in the field of Arabic language teaching methodology.
