Prof. Ph.D. Safet Bektović was born in 1966 in the town of Konica in Sandžak. He studied philosophy and sociology in Pristina and Sarajevo.
He has lived in Denmark since 1992, where he received his doctorate in 2000 at the University of Copenhagen on Søren Kierkegaard and Sufi philosophy. The title of his dissertation is "The passion of faith in Søren Kierkegaard and in Sufism".
Since 1996, he has been working at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Copenhagen. She works on the subjects Philosophy of Religion, Social Ethics, Interreligious Communication, Islamic Philosophy, Sufism. He currently works at the Faculty of Theology, University of Oslo.
Prof. Ph.D. Safet Bektović published dozens of scientific and professional works in international journals in the fields of philosophy, religion and culture. He is the co-author of 11 books and the author of two books:
- Kulturmøder og religion (Encounters of culture and religion), Museum Tusculanum, 2004. Copenhagen, Denmark.
- Islamic philosophers. Baggrund, problematunger og moderne udfomninger (Islamic philosophy: background, problems and modern expressions) ANIS 2012, Copenhagen, Denmark
Prof. Ph.D. Safet Bektović was a guest lecturer in the Religious Identity of Youth course at the Department of Islamic Religious Education, led by prof. Ph.D. Edina Vejo.
Prof. Ph.D. Safet Bektović held a lecture on "Intellectualism and anti-intellectualism in Islam (historical forms, theological-dogmatic background, political determination, modern challenges and current tensions)".
