As part of the manifestation "Days of the Vaqf in Bosnia and Herzegovina", which is organized by the Vaqf Directorate, the Islamic Pedagogical Faculty of the University of Zenica and the Vaqf Directorate of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina organized a one-day scientific-expert meeting "Social Aspect of the Vaqf" on April 9, 2019 in Zenica ".
The goal of the Scientific-Expert Meeting "Social Aspect of the Vaqf" was to question the real possibilities and position of the Vaqf as an institution in the Bosnian society, which goes beyond the understanding of its importance as a historical phenomenon and opens perspectives of contemporary contextualization in the function of well-being, both individual and communal, in Bosnia. and Herzegovina. The meeting defined the dimensions of the waqf's activity that are applicable for a more complete shaping of the social aspect as a unifying domain of the totality of its activity.
Contemporary theories of social policy place social policy in the focus of their interest, in the context of the representation of actors that determine the establishment of an adequate social security system. The appearance of other actors, apart from our habit of the state, in the field of social services (NGOs, religious organizations, the informal sector) represents an alternative in empowering the individual on the way to achieving full social security.
It is necessary to rethink and develop the framework of its activities as a resource that is a contribution to social security in our society, and the role of the Islamic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the management system of waqfs is extremely important.
The concepts and practices of other countries are also very instructive in self-confrontation with the indicators of the activities of the waqf in our community: the Lutheran tradition and the Scandinavian welfare society teach how a symbiosis of religious, national and state has been established throughout history, and how public awareness of the common good and diaconal engagement well-to-do individuals, families and organizations develop the idea of Good.
The gathering was realized in two plenary parts.
